Pacquiao responds to Mayweather’s challenge
- Updated: December 17, 2014
Today Manny Pacquiao took to Twitter in response to a minutes long diatribe laid out this weekend by nemesis Floyd Mayweather.
The two boxers have circled each other for years, beginning in 2009 until present, resulting in at least two failed negotiation attempts and no fight between the two as we head into 2015.
Mayweather utilized the network he fights for, Showtime, on Friday to call out Pacquiao, as well as Top Rank promoter Bob Arum for being the ones that have halted a Pacquiao/Mayweather showdown, a fight thought to be the most significant in decades and with the potential to become the richest fight in history.
Pacquiao responded this morning with a short and to the point Tweet:
.@FloydMayweather, don't be a boxing humbug. Let's give the fans the fight they want. They have waited long enough.

The back and forth on social media has been the only constant during this year’s long soap opera, and one would believe this is par for the course, with no bout actually materializing.
However, there have been confirmations of back door discussions between CBS/Showtime and Arum, and it has been pointed out that HBO (Pacquiao) and Showtime (Mayweather) did a co-promotion in 2002 for the Mike Tyson/Lennox Lewis heavyweight match.
