Jhonny Gonzalez to face Jorge Arce Sep. 20

A deal has been reached between Zanfer Promotions and Promociones del Pueblo for a featherweight title bout between Jhonny Gonzalez (56-8, 47 KOs) and Jorge Arce (64-7-2, 49 KOs) in Los Mochis, Mexico.
Gonzalez is making the second defense of the WBC title he won by knocking out Abner Mares 12 months ago. Gonzalez was last in the ring this past May, when he earned a technical decision win over Clive Atwell.
The fight purses have been agreed upon but both promoters are attempting to finalize an agreement between rival Mexican TV networks Televisa and TV Azteca in an attempt to simulcast the fight on both networks for the first time ever.
Arce has won three straight since a knockout loss to Nonito Donaire in 2012.
“To fight for a sixth world title is my dream, and it’s an honor to be doing it against an excellent fighter like Jhonny Gonzalez, a hard puncher, but also one who has taken punishment as well and I know I can beat him,” said Arce on Wednesday.
