Heavyweight championship boxing is coming back to Madison Square Garden on April 25 when Wladimir Klitschko returns to the United States to take on Bryant Jennings.
This will be Klitschko’s (63-3, 53 KO) fourth fight at the Garden.
“I am extremely happy to fight in New York City again,” Klitschko said. “I had my first unification fight there and a lot of great heavyweight matches have taken place at Madison Square Garden. It will definitely be a great fight night and I will do everything for it from my side.”
Klitschko is well-aware of the task in front of him. He praised the skills of Bryant Jennings and he is not expecting an easy night.
“I do have great respect for Bryant Jennings and his achievements,” Klitschko said. “He has good movement in the ring and good technique. I know this will be a tough challenge.”
Jennings (19-0, 10 KO) is getting his first crack at a world title. Even against an all-time great, the Philadelphia native is confident that he will walk out of New York with the title.
“This is the moment I have been waiting for,” Jennings said. “Now it’s time to bring the belts home.”
Jennings’ last fight also took place at Madison Square Garden on the Golovkin vs Geale undercard. He earned a split decision victory over then-undefeated Mike Perez.
Klitschko vs Jennings will emanate from the “The World’s Most Famous Arena”, Madison Square Garden on April 25 and will be televised Live on HBO World Championship Boxing beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
