Manny Pacquiao Agrees to Random Drug Testing for Potential Mayweather Fight

Bring on the tests

According to ESPN UK, Bob Arum has stated that Manny Pacquiao is willing to go undergo random drug testing in the event that a fight with rival Floyd Mayweather presents itself. Parties of the two camps have attempted on a couple of occasions to put together what would be the richest fight in boxing history but the issue of random drug testing appeared to stall the bout from occurring. Floyd is adamant of random testing all the way to the day of the fight while Pacquiao has stated he would like a few days cut off before the fight date.

Manny has risen from the lower weight classes of boxing and has amazingly knocked out dangerous foes in the welterweight and light welterweight classes. Rumors started to circle (without any hard evidence) that Manny’s impressive accomplishments were due to the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Mayweather, who lost his number one pound for pound tag to Manny in the last couple of years, has stated that whoever he steps in the ring with must participate in full random drug testing without any deviations.

“We have agreed in the Pacquiao camp to unlimited random testing done by a responsible, neutral organization,” Arum said.

There is a caveat however; Arum has refused to allow the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) to be in charge of such testing for Manny. The USADA is Floyd’s testing authority of choice and Arum has indicated he would favor the Olympic Organization to hold the testing.

“We don’t believe USADA is a neutral organization,” Arum explained, “I don’t think anybody’s test is as vigorous as the test administered by the Olympic Organization. And we can arrange for the Olympic Organization to handle the test under the supervision of the Athletic commission respective of the state where the fight is going to be held.”

Both Mayweather and Manny have fights scheduled for the fall of this year, against Victor Ortiz and Juan Manuel Marquez respectively. Should they both win their bouts, Arum says he will look into finally matching the two together for next year.

What is Bob Arum taling about. The U.S. Congress recognized USADA as “the official anti-doping agency for Olympic, Pan American and Paralympic sport in the United States.”
Stop being fooled. Why is all the “news” about the “negotiation” come from bob arum? If you’re truly negotiating you say anything to the public until its a done deal.

Arum is real good at what he does. First off he doesnt trust USADA so he wants someone else to do the testing with the Nevada Commission in control of the whole process??? Ask yourself this? Who has a better reputation in the sport of boxing or sports in general? I can name 2 fighters right off the bat that have admited to the use of enhansment drugs and tested negative by the commision. (Tommy Morrison, Shane Mosley). I think Manny should just take the random test provided by the USADA and make the fight happen.
