Legendary Mexican trainer Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Beristain was hospitalized on Thursday in Mexico City due to health problems, though the family has opted to keep private the nature of his issues.  However he is said to be in stable condition now.

A source close to the family said that Beristain underwent surgery for heart problems, but there is no confirmation of a possible heart attack, though the Hall of Fame trainer is out of danger.

The 74-year old was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame three years ago and has trained over 24 world champions, including Juan Manuel and Rafael Marquez, Humberto Gonzalez, Daniel Zaragoza and Gilberto Roman.
