Nonito Donaire will be taking on fellow featherweight titleholder Nicholas Walters on Oct. 18 in Carson, Calif., according to ESPN.

Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told ESPN that the fight has not been signed but has been agreed upon by both fighters, with the fight tentatively set to take place at the Stub Hub Center in an HBO telecast.  The HBO televised opener will apparently include Gennady Golovkin’s title defense against Marco Antonio Rubio.

Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) is coming off of an anticlimactic win over Simpiwe Vetyeka, in a fight that ended as a fifth-round technical decision after Donaire suffered a cut caused by an accidental headbutt.

On that same card in Macau, China, Walters (24-0, 20 KOs) scored a dominant fifth-round KO over former two-division champ Vic Darchinyan.

That’s going to be a fun scrap. We’ll have Raymundo Dioses at ringside covering that one.
