Glen Tapia Struggles to Make Weight Ahead of Friday Tilt
- Updated: May 7, 2015
Junior Middleweight contender Glen Tapia (23-1, 15 KOs) may need to consider a move to middleweight as the Passaic, New Jersey product struggled to make weight on Thursday ahead of his Friday clash with Michel Soro (25-1-1, 15 KOs) on Top Rank’s TruTV telecast. Tapia, who has won three straight fights since his lone defeat to James Kirkland, initially weighed in at 155 and appeared gaunt and pale, while Soro had no issue coming in under the limit at 153. Tapia returned later to weigh-in exactly at 154, but the drain on his body was evident. Whether this will impact his performance on Friday remains to be seen.
For the light heavyweight co-feature both Sean Monaghan (174) and Cleiton Conceicao (173) had no issues coming under the 175 limit.
