Tony Harrison (20-0, 17 KOs) remained unbeaten on Friday night after thrashing Antwone Smith (23-6-1, 12 KOs) in their junior middleweight bout, which served as the main event on ESPN Friday Night Fights.
Harrison dropped Smith twice in the opening round and then scored a stoppage in the second round after a series of punches had Smith badly in trouble again, following another knockdown.
In the co-feature, Ievgen Khytrov (9-0, 9 KOs) kept his undefeated and knockout streaks alive as he broke down and stopped Jorge Melendez (28-5-1, 26 KOs) in eight rounds. Khytrov hammered Melendez in the sixth round but was unable to end the fight, but in the eighth, a right body shot put Melendez down after a delayed reaction. Moments later, referee Tony Weeks stepped in to stop the fight.
In another fight earlier in the evening, Erickson Lubin (10-0, 7 KOs) scored a first-round stoppage of Kenneth Council (8-1, 6 KOs) after dropping him three times.
Opening up the telecast was Caleb Hunter Plant’s first round destruction of Daniel Henry (2-3-3), who got tagged near the corner and turned his back on Plant (6-0, 5 KOs), before Plant unloaded with three more hooks to send Henry crashing down to the canvas.
