Badou Jack (19-1, 12 KOs) scored the biggest win of his career on Friday night as he dethroned WBC super middleweight titlist Anthony Dirrell (27-1-1, 22 KOs) in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions on Spike in Chicago.
The fight was close, with both fighters having their moments though it was Jack who landed the most effective punches. Final scores were 116-112, 115-113 and 114-114.
In the co-feature, Daniel Jacobs scored a 12th round TKO win over Caleb Traux (25-2-2, 15 KOs) in their middleweight bout. Jacobs controlled the action though Traux was game during the first few rounds. As the fight progressed, Jacobs began wearing him down and in the final round, Jacobs was credited with a knockdown after Traux was hurt and fell against the ropes. After the call, Jacobs poured it on and earned the stoppage win.
The opening bout of the telecast saw Robert Garcia (37-3, 23 KOs) earn an eight-round unanimous over James Stevenson (22-2, 15 KOs). Garcia suffered a knockdown in the first round after Stevenson landed a clean and sneaky right uppercut underneath the guard. Scores were 78-73, 78-73 and 77-74.
