Super middleweight titlist Badou Jack (21-1-1, 12 KOs) retained his WBC belt on Saturday night after settling for a majority draw against former champ Lucian Bute (32-4, 25 KOs) at the DC Armory in Washington, DC.

Jack was quicker and more accurate than Bute, although Bute landed his fair share of body shots and uppercuts during the fight.  A competitive bout during the first half of the fight, appeared to be going Jack’s way during the second half as Bute began to tire.

However, the judges saw the fight differently as only one judge had it for Jack with a 117-111 score, while the remaining two judges scored it 114-114, obviously favoring Bute’s aggression.

After the fight, Jack said he was ready to move onto a fall unification fight with James DeGale.
