Jacobs-Mora title fight set for Aug. 1 on ESPN

In addition to the showdown between Danny Garcia and Paulie Malignaggi on the August 1 edition of Premier Boxing Champions, the ESPN card will now also feature a middleweight championship bout.
WBA middleweight champ Daniel Jacobs will take on Sergio Mora in the opening bout of the card.
Jacobs (29-1, 26 KO) is coming off a successful April title defense against Caleb Truax. Fighting in his hometown of Brooklyn, Jacobs has even more motivation to put on a show in front of his home fans.
“I’m just excited to be on this great card and to be able to perform at Barclays Center is an honor,” Jacobs said. “I’m looking forward to making the best out of this opportunity and most importantly I want to give the Brooklyn fans a great show. I get to go to work in my own backyard.”
Currently riding a five-fight winning streak, Mora (28-3-2, 9 KO) is getting another crack at a world title. The former super welterweight champion earned a split decision victory over Abraham Han in February and will be making his first appearance on a PBC card.
“I went back to the ‘drawing board,’ worked hard and now I’m blessed to be a part of this great event,” Mora said. “I don’t plan to let this opportunity get by me. On August 1, I’m coming to Brooklyn to win.”
The card takes place on ESPN Saturday, Aug. 1 at Barclays Center with televised coverage beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
