Monroe decisions Vera on FNF

In the main event of ESPN Friday Night Fights, Willie Monroe Jr. (19-1, 16 KOs) scored a 10-round unanimous decision win over Bryan Vera.
Monroe made a name for himself in 2014 by winning the Boxcino tournament, and earned a win over his most notable opponent tonight. Monroe scored an official knockdown in the fifth round when Vera’s glove touched the canvas, ultimately winning a lopsided decision with scores of 98-91, 97-92 and 99-90.
In the co-featured bout, Brandon Adams (15-1, 10 KOs) knocked out Lekan Byfield (6-6-2, 1 KO) within two easy rounds.
In the first round, Adams drilled Byfield with a straight right hand that sent him falling backwards. Adams then tried to end the fight by throwing inaccurate power punches that allowed Byfield to make it out of the round. In the second, Adams floored Byfield again with an overhand right. He again made it to his feet but was hurt badly by a bodyshot, followed up by a looping right hand that sent him down again. Despite attempting to get up, the referee waved it off.
