Orlando Salido to meet Rocky Martinez on April 11

Orlando Salido (42-12-2, 29 KOs) will defend his WBO junior lightweight title against former titlist Rocky Martinez (28-2-2, 17 KOs) on April 11 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
“I’m very happy to be returning to Puerto Rico,” said Salido during a press conference on Thursday. “The fans have been very good to me since the first time I fought here, but I know I’m going up against a good, former champion who is a warrior like myself, and I’m training hard in order to keep my title.”
Meanwhile, Martinez will look to win his first world title while fighting in Puerto Rico. The former titlist has won two titles – one while in the UK, and the other in Las Vegas.
“This is going to be a war against Salido and that’s what I’m preparing for,” said Martinez. “I’m excited to be fighting for another world title, and especially in my backyard. This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to fight for a title in Puerto Rico and it’s a big motivation for me.”
The remainder of the card will be announced at a later date, though tickets are now on sale. In the U.S., the event will be televised on PPV.
