Luis Ortiz (24-0, 21 KOs) remained unbeaten on Saturday night, after scoring a seventh round stoppage of Bryant Jennings (19-2, 10 KOs) in an entertaining heavyweight fight.
Ortiz stunned Jennings in the first round with a pair of right hands but Jennings came back firing in the second round to make things interesting. In the third, Ortiz hurt Jennings badly with an uppercut that nearly sent him down. Somehow, Jennings weathered the storm and even managed to land a hard combination towards the end of the round.
In the seventh round, Ortiz landed a right uppercut, followed by a left one and then a second left uppercut that dropped Jennings face-first to the canvas. Jennings slowly got to his feet and beat the count, but moments later, Ortiz followed it up with right cross and a straight left that nearly sent Jennings down again, prompting the referee to waive it off.
