Rigondeaux’s next title defense to air on Solo Boxeo
- Updated: July 9, 2014
Junior featherweight champ Guillermo Rigondeaux (13-0, 8 KOs) will be back in action on July 19, as he’ll defend his titles against Sod Looknongyantoy (63-2-1, 27 KOs) at the Venetian in Macau, China.
Rigondeaux’s most recent performances have made it difficult for him and his team to find an outlet in which to air his fights, but Top Rank has secured a TV deal with UniMas that will air the fight as part of Solo Boxeo Tecate, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
The unbeaten Cuban fought twice in 2013, besting both Nonito Donaire and Joseph Agbeko in lopsided decision wins.
As for Looknongyantoy, the Thai fighter is 0-2 in title fights, having lost decisions to Daniel Ponce De Leon twice in 2005 and 2006, but has put together a nine-fight winning streak since that loss.
