Stevenson dominates Bika to retain title

Light heavyweight titlist Adonis Stevenson (26-1, 21 KOs) retained his WBC 175-pound title on Saturday afternoon, with a unanimous decision victory over Sakio Bika (32-7-3, 21 KOs) at the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City, Canada on the debut of Premier Boxing Champions on CBS.
Stevenson was in control of the fight from the start, although Bika tried his best to rough things up with haymakers and the occasional headbutt.
In the fifth round, Stevenson stunned Bika and then put him down in the sixth, though replays showed it was more of a trip than anything. However, later in the fight, Stevenson drilled Bika with a straight left hand on the chin that sent him down. That second knockdown clearly hurt Bika though he managed to get out of the round.
As the fight progressed, Bika was able to connect with a few looping right hands and even had Stevenson on the ropes at one point, but let him off the hook and simply couldn’t get out of the way of Stevenson’s left hands.
Though it appeared that Stevenson would likely get a shutout win, final scores were 115-111, 116-110, and 115-110 for Stevenson.
