In the main event on ESPN Friday Night Fights from the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, Tony Luis (19-2, 7 KOs) earned a lopsided unanimous decision win over the previously unbeaten Karl Dargan (17-1, 9 KOs) in an upset.
Luis outworked Dargan from the start and stayed in his chest, while landing hooks and uppercuts from the inside. After nearly knocking Dargan down early in the fight (a missed call), Luis finally sent him to the canvas in the 10th round to add an exclamation point to his performance. Scores were 97-92, 99-90 and 97-92 for Luis.
Earlier in the evening, unbeaten light heavyweight Sullivan Barrera (15-0, 10 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over badly faded, former champ Jeff Lacy (27-6, 18 KOs).
Barrera dropped Lacy with a straight right hand in the first round and slowly broke him down before the fight was waved off in the fourth round.
In the opening bout, Thomas Falowo (13-3, 8 KOs) went the distance with Russell Lamour (11-1, 5 KOs) in an action-packed fight that saw Falowo earn a close unanimous decision. The two had an amateur history, with Lamour owning a 4-1 record against his New England rival, but it was Falowo who was the aggressor and managed to land the harder blows. Scores were 78-74, 77-75 and 77-75 for Falowo.
In a non-televised bout, Shane Mosley Jr. stopped Rafael Machado in the third round.
