British and Commonwealth super-featherweight champ Liam Walsh successfully defended his titles with an eighth-round stoppage win over Troy James on Saturday night.
Walsh, looked to shake off any ring rust after being out with a hand injury but he looked confident and got off to an early jump on the scorecards, aided by a questionable knockdown in the third round.  James responded well and began to pick up the pace, but it was Walsh who continued landing the more effective blows.
In the sixth round, Walsh connected with a body shot that nearly sent James down, but in the eighth, Walsh jumped all over James, forcing his corner to throw in the towel at 1:22 of the round.
Earlier in the night, Liam’s brother Ryan retained his own British featherweight title with a fifth round stoppage win over James Tennyson.
