Walters knocks out Darchinyan

Featherweight titlist Nicholas Walters made a big splash tonight in Macau, China, with a knockout win over former multi-division champ Vic Darchinyan.
Walters (24-0, 20 KOs), 28, came into the fight with little recognition, but he made the most of his time in China, when he took apart Darchinyan (39-7-1, 28 KOs) from start to finish. Walters put Darchinyan down in the second round with an uppercut, though it was the body attack that really began to break down the former champ.
The Jamaican brought the pain in the fifth round, when a right hand hurt Darchinyan, sending him falling backward, after which Walters followed it up with a pair of body shots that put him down. Darchinyan managed to get up again, but it was clear he was in bad shape.
With Darchinyan on the defensive, Walters connected with a punishing left hook that sent him down and out. Time of the KO was 2:22 of the fifth round.
