Williams Hoping to Reclaim Contendership on FNF
- Updated: January 8, 2013
Lightweight contender Dannie Williams (22-2, 18 KOs) is looking to get back into the thick of things when he takes on John Molina J.r (24-2, 19 KOs) this Friday night on ESPN Friday Night Fights. The bout, which takes place in Santa Fe, New Mexico, will look go catapult the winner back into contention.
William’s previous bout on FNF ended with a 10-round decision loss to Hank Lundy last March, but has since rebounded with a TKO win over Rynell Griffin last October. For his part, Molina is coming off a first round stoppage by then-then WBC lightweight titlist Antonio DeMarco on the Ward-Dawson undercard last September.
“I need to show the world in this fight that my last televised fight was not me. That was a fluke,” said Williams. “The boxing world needs to see the real Dannie Williams. 2013 is a huge year for me. After I take care of business on Friday night, I want to get right back in the ring against ranked opponents and move my way to the top of the lightweight division.”
ESPN2 will begin live coverage at 9 p.m. ET.
