Tony Ayala Jr. found dead in San Antonio

According to the Houston Chronicle, Tony Ayala Jr., the controversial former boxer was found dead on Tuesday morning at his West Side gym.
The report states that police received a call around 7:48 a.m. and Ayala Jr., 52, was “found slumped over at the Zarzamora Street Gym.”
Ayala (31-2, 27 KOs) was a top middleweight and undefeated at 22-0 before he was arrested for rape in New Jersey in 1983, for which he served 16 years in prison before being released in 1999. He would resume his career immediately going 9-2 – his final bout coming in 2003.
Ayala Jr. was reincarcerated in 2004 as a result of a parole violation and served another 10 years in prison, ending his boxing career.
