Tough test for John Ryder at O2 on January 31

British Middleweight defends his WBO Inter-Continental title against Les Sherrington on January 31.

John Ryder will have little time to get out of the holiday spirit and into fight mode, as he will be in action at the end of the month against experienced Australian Les ‘Lock and Load’ Sherrington. Sherrington has a very decent record of 35-7 and has the experience to test Ryder’s credentials in a packed middleweight division.  “Sherrington is a great fight for me to start the year with a bang,” said Ryder. “He has bags of experience and has a good record of KO wins so I will need to be at my best, but I have been working hard over Christmas and am in great shape, so I am looking forward to shining on January 31.”

Ryder will be hoping that 2015 can be a successful year and can see him shine in a star studded middleweight division, keeping his hopes of a future world title shot alive. John’s only professional loss to date came at the hands of fellow Brit Billy Joe Saunders in 2013, but since then he has got back to winning ways with four wins out of four the latest coming against Theophilus Tetteh for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental middleweight title.

Ryder v Sherrington has been added to the excited looking line up at the O2 including Olympic hero Anthony Joshua against Kevin ‘Kingpin’ Johnson and Kevin Mitchell against Daniel Estrada for the WBC Silver Lightweight title. Joshua’s Perfect KO ratio will be put to the test against Johnson a man who has been the distance with Vitali Klitschko, Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora. All the action can be watched live in the UK on Skysports.
