On Tuesday night, former 154-pound titlist Austin Trout (30-2, 17 KOs) scored a sixth round knockout over Joey Hernandez, (24-4-1,14 KOs) in the main event debut of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California.
Trout came out aggressively and established his jab early, as he frustrated Hernandez throughout the fight. An increasingly aggravated Hernandez was deducted a point during the fourth round after slamming Trout to the canvas.
Laster in the sixth, Trout stepped on the gas and unloaded with a barrage of punches on Hernandez, that sent him crumbling down where he was counted out. Trout was ahead 50-44 on all three scorecard at the time of the KO.
“We got a good win with a knockout. I’m happy to be here. I want to thank the fans for showing up. If you didn’t come for me this time, you will next time,” said Trout afterward. “I’m trying to be the best in my class. I think it’s me and if people don’t believe it, they will.
